Great spot for that late night craving of American Chinese food. Silly cheap considering what you get. Try sitting in while you wait for your food because the banter that goes on between the people who phone in orders and the staff is hilarious! "White rice, rye? Noooo... You said why rice! I call police!" (That escalated quickly). But that one woman's screamy voice gets old fast. Anyway, yeah. The food is fine, the sweet and sour chicken is crazy good and the egg rolls are decent. They don't have crab rangoon which is a let down and out of character. (French fries but no crab rangoon?)

My go to Chinese take out place.Standard take out place decor. The person taking your order can be either really friendly or a cold fish depending on who you get.But the food is really good. Standard Chinese take out which in itself should be a seperate food category. If Chinese take out could be classified as comfort food then this would be mine.

I've had my share of Chinese food all around the world and this place most definitely did not make my Top 100 list. The good:+1. It's great that they are open late and take orders on Seamless.+2. It's good that they deliver within an hour. Well, I live three blocks away and they took 40 minutes. The worst!:-1. For the cheap looking, greasy, hole in the wall joint, the food is not cheap! Last night I ordered General Tso's and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce and it came out to $20. Mind you, when I spend $20 on Chinese food, I usually eat for two whole days, even in Manhattan. What I'm saying is - this place ain't not THAT cheap.-2. Who said their General Tso is good?? It's type nasty! It is so soggy and weird and gooey. The broccoli in the General Tso was good though. Cooked perfectly! I requested that the General Tso be extra spicy but they clearly ignored my request and made sure it was as bland as possible.-3. The broccoli with garlic sauce - wow. Atrocious. If I ate broccoli and threw it up, it would look and taste just like this.-4. The pork fried rice is ok - if they're going to make it super greasy, might as well make it taste good! But it does not. The pork is weird tasting.-5. I requested hot sauce and utensils and things and they gave me none of this. It's a damn shame that I put 20% tip on Seamless for this nonsense. If the food was at least decent, I would give it another go but it was so gross. Who said this is the best dirty Chinese food in Hell's Kitchen? crackheads smh

High turnover good greasy American style Chinese prepared very fast. General Tso's chicken is very good, most other dishes are good/ok. Kinda shady crowd which reflects the hood it is in. Not as scary as the dumpy fo ying (I think it is called) that is on the same side of 8th ave a few blocks south. Overall, not a bad place if you want cheap, decent/good greasy, HUGE portions.

Price - Awesome/AmazingFood - Good. General Tsos is good-ish, Steamed Dumplings good-ish.Quantity - Holy Moly, you get a lot.Hits the spot, fills you up, dont need to spend an arm and a leg. Really that's all you need to know. There is nothing amazingly special or authentic about this VERY AMERICAN CHINESE restaurant.

I was referred to this little hidden gem by some friends who work on Broadway and it soon became my favorite Chinese spot. Don't be fooled by its appearance- I almost was! It's a fast good joint but everything is made to order, so it's always crispy, fresh and hot!I quickly became obsessed with their wonton soup- it's flavorful and tasty. The wontons are huge and stuffed with so much goodness inside. The broth has amazing pieces of pork and is seasoned perfectly. As for entrees- the Green Bean Chicken and Fried Rice combo- you can't go wrong. Oh! How could I forget the egg rolls everyone raves about- super crispy and delicious. Definitely a must try.The best part? Their amazing lunch special comes with a great portion of soup, an egg roll and a hefty portion of fried rice and your choice of protein!

If you're looking for the best 'dirty' Chinese food in Hell's Kitchen, then BAM! you've found it here. There are countless times in which I've just thought to myself, "You know, I am pretty hungry, but I only have $6." Fast forward 5 minutes, and then I'm here at China Gourmet. Now if you aren't too keen on a dirty restaurant/take out spot, and are all about service, then unfortunately you won't find that here. This place is a straight up, no frills, get you your food, and get the hell out of here joint.Lunch specials are pretty damn cheap, at about $7, and the dinner specials are only about a buck or so more. The portions though, are gigantic. With the lunch/dinner special, you get fried rice, and egg roll, and then your entree. This "meal" can literally last me for 2 dinners.I've never had any problems with this place before, although when I ate my leftovers for breakfast, I had a killer stomach-ache. Maybe that's party my fault for punishing my stomach that early in the morning, but you have to build up that tollerance somehow. As far as choices to get here, I've always found that their General's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Beef Chow Fun have been pretty solid. If you're too lazy to make the walk here, they luckily deliver, and you can just order whatever you need from Seamless. This place is not epic by any means, but on the cheap, China Gourmet get's the job done.

This place is right by my job & I usually order from them every once in a blue. The lunch special is your best bet here. It's $6 or $6.50, I believe (don't quote me), and I usually get an order of chicken with broccoli, brown rice, & an egg roll with the special. The portions are really big for such a cheap price.Usually, around lunch time it can be very packed so I have called them up before to pick up my order. They are quick & to the point over the phone just like they are in person. No complaints here!

Food is decent, price is better! No complaints about the food, its your typical Chinese take out. One complaint I have is the service of the delivery guy. It took an hour (granted I ordered at about 720pm which is dinner time) I tipped 20% but the meal only came to $6.00 so the tip was under $2 which i put on my card when ordering online.I had planned to give the guy an extra $1 or so at the door but he had an angry face on and handed me my food and called me "fucking cheap". Really didnt appreciate the service.Luckily the food is good.

Never had any issues with this place. Their food is average, rice can be a hit or miss some days. I usually get the general Tso's Chicken with Wonton Soup and Plain fried rice. Comes out to about $6.50 for everything! There aren't too many cheap chinese take out around where I am, so this place solves that problem when I am really craving some Msg flavored rice and deep fried chicken pieces.I always order online so I get the food as soon as I get there. Quick and painlessWarning: Do Not Finish this in one sitting.. you will be unproductive the rest of the day

Inexpensive, huge portions, and FAST delivery. I order through Seamless every time I'm hungover - which is frequently - and they've never taken longer than a half hour. The General Tso's is as good as I've had in the neighborhood, and really, what's more important than that?

I come here when I need Chinese take out. It's basically just like every single other Chinese take out. I particularly enjoy their General Chicken combination platter. One note - don't stay inside and wait if you can help it. Otherwise, your clothes will smell like Chinese take out restaurant for a few days.

This review is only for their delivery. Having been on the lookout for cheap chinese delivery in Hells Kitchen I came across this on Seamless. Seemed cheap and reasonable and closeby. Took the plunge and ordered General Tso's combo (with pork fried rice and egg roll). Verdict - I found my cheap Chinese delivery joint. Fried rice was passable but I found the General's chicken to be very good and they gave large portions! So if you're looking for a sub-$10 dinner and craving cheap chinese food (kinda like the low-quality type you frequently devoured during your college days), China Gourmet could be the spot. I look forward to trying other unhealthy, greasy, high sodium entrees.

I've ordered from here a few times. It's cheap and I want to like it, but I've got more than my fair share of nasty chicken bits. So much so that I am no longer allowed to order from here. They put something weird in their soups and sauces that make them glob up overnight. If you order a hot and sour soup you'd better eat it right away, because it will be weirdly nasty and lumpy tomorrow.English? They don't speak it here. Ask anything that requires English Language comprehension and they will pass the phone around 10 times yet no one will actually understand you.

This place has been my go to Chinese takeout spot at work for around 10 years now. It's not the best Chinese I've ever had by far, but they know me so my food always comes prompt and complete. The food is best when they open till the lunch rush. Order around 3 and the food kind of tastes like it's been sitting around for a minute. Funny little anecdote, I have never even stepped foot in here. I don't even know what this place looks like!
